I turn right first Bavarian to my friends. We all know that, Bavaria is the most successful club in Germany, but nevertheless has Mainz 05 game on Saturday with three hits J dominated and deserved to win. So please do not hated and treated ourselves to the sixth string in a row.

But now to the events in LA: On Friday there was a kind of competition taking place in our pool. The boys and girls of the USC swim department were divided into two groups and are then lined up against each other internally. I was in the group that lost in the end, unfortunately, a few meters, but it was more a fun event. Nevertheless, it was a good experience for me because I can now better appreciate the time and knows what I have to pay more.

My times were as:

- 45.5 seconds to 100 freestyle (where I messed up every change, because there are just 23.8 yards per track and not 25 as I am used to I have to adjust.). I was told that when I swim 42 seconds or less, very good about me.

- In the 4x200-meter freestyle relay team swam I'm 1:39,6 min. When translated my best time of the Long Course (1:49,78), we arrive at about 1:33,2.

I am now even more motivated to undercut the periods mentioned to me, because I think I can swim faster than is expected of me.

On Friday I had my first "Mid-Term Exam" written in Oceanography. It was a multiple choice test with 55 questions and five possible answers per question, although there were always only one correct answer. I think I've mastered it quite well.

Due to the "competition" for the weekend was totally free. Many of the swimmers are on the whole half days gone home or flown. A friend who had a birthday, seized the opportunity and invited me and a few other friends for a night in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is a four-hour ride from Los Angeles. Most of the time you drive through the desert of California or Nevada. This was the first time I was really in the desert.

Vegas is really a great city, but it is not as great as they might imagine. Clearly a night is too short to explore the whole city, but I've probably seen quite a lot.

I wanted to broach a subject. My family, my girlfriend and I are often asked how we maintain contact and that is that even possible.

So, I can say is that it works very well. I usually use skype with the people in Germany, the only problem is, that one has to find a suitable time in which it goes on both sides - so I want to draw attention to the time difference of nine hours. I can make phone calls either when it is on me between 11 und 13 clock; in Germany then it is already evening. This works for me but not as often as I usually still have university or flaming me in this time just on the ear. Sometimes I make calls even when it is on my clock 21.30. For this to my friends but then get up at 6:30 clock and then on to school or to work. But I also have a lot of contact on Facebook, and I always keep up to date on German news agencies and its online services.

Franzese is now a sort of motivational speaker and speaks to young people in particular and young adults in schools and universities.

My week was pretty good, except that I did not train on Wednesday because I had a cold bit. I did not want it degenerates, so I'd rather have exposed one day. Overall, the training is still, again, but I notice that I get out of the hole into which is each athlete after the summer break.

The university is more demanding. Soon to be the first exams. Therefore, the next week is very tiring, because every time I learn, I must not only learn the material, which is in question, but also tens of thousands of foreign words that I have to look up before then. But I think I've found my rhythm, and also slowly coming here one day.

On Friday, the entire swimming & diving team is driven to team building to Santa Barbara. There was a workout on the beach, there were also some Rounds of 16 degrees (Celsius J ) cold water swimming. But the highlight was a four-hour tour in the mountains. The walking tour was billed as, but somehow it all evolved into rock or free climbing. We are climbing up a mountain, but there was no path or the like. Only rocks, stones, sand, ashes, spent trees and shrubs (as there often is burning in the mountains, because it is so hot and so dry). It was really dangerous, for if the mountain had begun innocently, he ended with seemingly insurmountable slopes and cliffs, columns, and a jungle of burnt wood. And we had no ropes or other auxiliary items. It would have been virtually impossible without getting outside help to the extreme. The team has held together really well, it was to help each other and from time to time also saved from truly dangerous situations.

So a mountain is really deceptive, because when you're down, you do not see the point. You always think that it's not far, but if you've made a section and believes that one is on target, we see the next section. So you never know exactly when the peak is reached, and that makes it a difficult to divide the forces.

We needed about three hours for the ascent and about an hour to get back down safely.

I am very impressed by the girls of the team, because this will have done it all. There were situations where I have asked myself: "Oh man, how I'll make that now" Or where you had to jump and if you did not make it landed in a really great difficulties. But somehow it all survived intact. This was a great experience and I'm sure I did not do this for the last time.

What I still have to mention essential: Mainz 05 2-0 won against Werder Bremen and that AWAY! Thus, the Mainzer now in first place in the Bundesliga and have also worked out a good lead. Here you go to the current football league table.

What a weekend that was a tournament.
If we do not just last weekend right there would have been over it - you have seen so much, you have caught so much. It is increasingly difficult to create an "aha" etc. ..

It was long discussed and long awaited - the comeback of Group 28 from last year ...
And after the first shot it was again, the genial mood these excellent 28, and similar to last year rocked it in the group.

The ambience of this weekend, the good atmosphere in the group, the wonderful windows and shots and ultimately the delicious Bratwürscht - all that was transmitted again so postive to us that we were on the two days with a grin out of the woods because everyone is satisfied with himself and the world was.

Hello Friends,

am now for a month in the U.S.. That time has gone by incredibly fast. This is really awesome, I can still remember exactly how I saw my friends the last time at the airport, and first of my night: When I arrived in LA, saw the beautiful skyline of the city from the highway and the first time entered my room.

have in the past four weeks I received a lot of information and get an insight into the college system as it is there to live as a student and athlete to learn and train.

But now to my week: On Monday, Labour Day was in the United States, a holiday, on the other ha closed - including the University J . So I was able to time with Thomas Lurz and Thomas Rupprath spend, who on their way back from Hawaii made another three days in LA hold. On Tuesday Thomsen (Lurz) came to the afternoon session and has served us in the water company.

The training will now be intensified. We have next to the water, stability and strength training also started spinning. That makes me a lot of fun, I ride my bicycle and always try to in the same time a larger Distance to be covered. Next week we will be divided into three groups: Short Sprint, Middle and Long Sprint Sprint, so that people who swim around the same tracks, swim together in a group of different plans.

I'm probably in the middle sprint group. There are a lot of good people. I'm looking forward to, to measure myself against them.

On weekends, many sporting events that interest me.

For example, Vladimir Klitschko in Frankfurt against Samuel Peter will defend his world title success and has improved its co-ratio further. I like the Klitschko brothers really like, there are athletes and exemplary in every respect, and I wish I could see more of them fighting. When I learned that Wladimir is fighting this time in Frankfurt, I already wanted to buy a ticket - but then have I seen the date and realized that I would be at the time no longer in Germany. A friend commented to me then the whole fight via Facebook because he was not able to transfer in the United States.

The next event was the derby in the Bundesliga. About the Mainz 2-1 win over the FCK I was very happy. The third victory in the third game is A sensational start to the season. Keep it up!

The third top event, which I had already been announced, was the first home game of the USC football team. The Olympic Stadium in 1984, filled with 93,000 spectators, cheerleaders, the dance all the time on the sidelines, mascots, fireworks, a school band and students who ride disguised as a Trojan horse. Between all this took place in the game. It was really a super atmosphere in the stadium, an experience that you must have once made. The game was not very exciting, but our college has won 17:14 against Virginia. This was the second victory in the second game.

it is again an eventful week behind me.

The first thing I did on Monday when the offices were open, I've changed my course "The Greek in the West" against "Oceanography (Oceanology). This course I want to vote anyway, but unfortunately he was already full. There are usually but after the first week, many students, their exchange rates, so for me again was a place free.

Since Wednesday afternoon, no training takes place, I finally found time to take care of a cell phone and a (new) bike. Now I'm back through and through mobile. One big surprise was when my friends Thomas Lurz (world champion in open water swimming) and Thomas Rupprath (former world record holder and one of Germany's most successful swimmer ever) came by briefly. They were on their way to Hawaii, where they float a free-water season.

I also made an unpleasant experience with the laws in the U.S.:

When I buy my phone in downtown LA, are we (Sarah Poewe and I) arrived ten minutes late to our car, and already there were a police officer and a tow truck. We were able to smile a few excuses and minimize the damage to "only" 85 dollar ticket. I was then told later that there is only so expensive because we have parked in downtown and the amount of the penalty depends on the particular place.

On Thursday, the college football season has begun. College football is very popular in America. Darmstadt Marathon!

Anyone who knows me knows, sometimes I have crazy ideas :-) So I did during my Kiel bike ride on the idea of human basic stamina I have on my return so enough, that is running but this year, after over 10 years as a runner, your first marathon? In recent years I have often thought of me but then not really dared approach.

To all the head shaking, I know the bike and run two pairs of shoes, particularly with regard to the muscular strain.
But the thought solidified and so it came to action. After my tour, I began an intensive training course, which lasted about 3 weeks (normal 10-14). The most famous marathon in our region (Frankfurt) is the end of October, this was clearly too long to me, then offered the Darmstadt Marathon of the date and place nearby.

From the outset it was clear that time is not important to me, finishing is the goal, so arrive no matter what. And what can I say, I have now managed to get just got reassigned to 05:07 hours the finisher medal, but rather destroy happy to have just an indescribable feeling made it! Darmstadt
The marathon was a mix of city and countryside Marathon with a few bad pitches, which was run in two rounds.
